I have been reading mysteries ever since I discovered The Three Investigators and The Secret Seven books in my local library as a child though that interest has grown significantly in my adult years. Much of that interest was instilled by my parents who both love crime fiction – in fact, my father recently became a published author with his own Josef Slonský series. Book one in that series, The Outrageous Behaviour of Left-Handed Dwarves is already out and the second, The Book of Slaughter and Forgetting, is due to be released soon by Endeavour Press.

My interests are primarily in historical mystery fiction and in reading works from the Golden Age though I am game for pretty much any kind of read. My favorite series is the Akitada mysteries by I. J. Parker which I have been diligently working through over the past few years and I am reading many of the British Library Crime Classics reprints as they become available in the US.

In addition to crime fiction, I also enjoy watching film and television crime stories and listening to radio plays and you can expect occasional coverage of works in those formats on this blog too.
